NOT a deal post--but IMPORTANT--New Tylenol Recall

McNeil Consumer Healthcare Recalls Single Lot of Tylenol 8 Hour Caplets

McNeil Consumer Healthcare has issued another recall of one of its products. This time McNeil is recalling one product lot of Tylenol 8 Hour caplets 50 count bottles to the retail level. Lot number BCM155 is being recalled because of a small number of complaints of a musty or moldy odor. The uncharacteristic odor is thought to be caused by the presence of trace amounts of a chemical called 2,4,6-tribromoanisole. This voluntary recall is being taken as a precaution and the risk of adverse medical events is remote.

In previous recalls, this unusual moldy, musty odor was associated with nausea, stomach pain, vomiting and diarrhea. The source of 2,4,6-tribromoanisole is believed to be the breakdown of a chemical used to treat wooden pallets that transport and store packaging materials. To date, events reported to McNeil from today's recalled product were temporary and non-serious.
